Bible Trivia for Small Groups and Bible Studies
Small groups gather in living rooms, around a kitchen table, or in a corner of the church building. Bible Trivia Live gives you a ten-minute warm-up before study that gets everyone talking and points the group toward the Scriptures. It's free, and each person plays from their own phone.
A short icebreaker before study
The first few minutes of a small group can feel slow while people arrive and settle. One game fills that gap well. Ten questions take about ten minutes, which is long enough to relax everyone and short enough to leave plenty of time for the study itself. Keep it to one game. The trivia is the warm-up, not the main event.
Match the game to your passage
If your group is studying Exodus, choose Old Testament. If you're in Acts or one of Paul's letters, choose New Testament. Questions won't line up with your exact chapter, but they keep everyone thinking in the same part of the Bible you're about to read. When you start a new book, mention it as you set up the game, so the trivia feels connected to the study.
Let a missed question open the discussion
In a group of five to fifteen, you can stop and talk in a way a big room can't. When a question stumps most of the group, pause after the answer appears and ask, "Does anyone remember where that's from?" Sometimes the answer sends you to a passage, and sometimes it leads straight into the evening's topic. The host's phone controls when the next question starts, so take as long as the conversation needs.
Making it work in a living room
You don't need a projector. A TV with a laptop plugged in works, and so does a laptop set on the coffee table. Set it up before people arrive, and keep the PIN on screen while they get drinks. If someone has no phone with them, they can pair up and chat with a neighbor, though the game itself still scores one phone per player.
Set it up in 3 steps
- Before the group arrives, open the site on your phone and choose Old Testament or New Testament to match your study.
- Put the big screen on the TV or a laptop where everyone can see it.
- Let people join as they sit down, then start the game from your phone once everyone is in.
